Frommes, etc. . .

From IL-37 S, we turned onto S County Line Rd/Harmony Church Rd. We travelled 3.3 miles east on Harmony Church Rd and found the Harmony Free Will Baptist Church and Cemetery.

The Hudgens headstone is visible immediately. I had a great surprise, because I knew Great-great-grandma Pernelia Hudgens was buried there, but I had not been able to find Great-great-grandpa John Zachariah. Lo and behold, his name was on the same headstone!

I could not find headstones for his father William L. and mother Anna Durham Hudgens. Anna is supposed to be there, so I will write to the church before the next visit. I found a couple other Hudgens headstones, but could not read them.

From Harmony Church, we headed west on S County Line Rd/Harmony Church Rd for 3.3 miles and turned left onto IL-37 S. After 8.4 miles, we turned right onto West Deyoung Street in Marion, then after only about .8 mile, we turned right onto North Carbon Street. We turned left onto Bittle Place and found our Econo Lodge Hotel behind a U-Haul store or gas station. It was rather tricky to access. I won’t go so far as to recommend this hotel, but it was ok. They do have free wireless Internet service and free breakfast, though, which some of the more expensive hotels do not offer.
